False Awakenings

Exhibited as part of the Auckland Festival of Photography False Awakenings follows a clear and emotive narrative, capturing the elegance and oddities of both the skating and competitive diving scenes in small town New Zealand.

Beginning with photographs of a traditional, almost documentary-esque aesthetic that capture the competitors, textures and outdated facilities, it then transforms into something more abstract. Creating a new, imagined world, a dreamlike vein develops through the show, with the use of multiple exposures of divers tumbling through the air and increasingly obscure compositions.
